On the Job with the Sajasa Team
We know that Sajasa’s success depends upon a team of outstanding employees who are motivated to achieve excellence. We treat co-workers with dignity and respect, reward them financially for their efforts, and support continued professional and personal growth. Because of this, many of our people have been with the company for 15 to 20 years! We attract and retain top-notch people by:
- Compensating employees through highly attractive performance based wage packages. All permanent employees participate in bonus programs.
- Providing a comprehensive employer paid Benefit Program for all employees and their dependents, which includes medical, dental, group life and accidental death.
- Providing tax-deferred Retirement Benefits through a (401K)Savings Plan. Employees are encouraged to invest pretax dollars and receive a company contribution, tied to profitability. Historically, the company contribution to every participating employee’s account has been 50 to 60 cents on every dollar invested by the employee.
- Creating a place where employees can Learn and Grow. Sajasa offers inside classes on field safety, first aid, trench safety, and soil analysis to all field supervisory employees. We also support external learning through tuition support for work-related topics.
- Providing Employee Assistance through the “Fully Effective Employees, Inc.” program that offers free confidential counseling services outside the workplace. The program is available to assist all permanent employees, as well as their family members, with resolution of personal problems, both work related and non-work related.
- Being a participating member in “Drug Free Business,” a non-profit organization of over 1,200 member-companies committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace through testing, counseling and monitoring.
- Offering 8 Holidays and Paid Time Off to eligible employees
Safety Management
Sajasa’s safety program is driven by the belief that:
“It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that all co-workers go home to their families at the end of the workday healthy and safe.”
Our commitment is to provide the education, training, preplanning, and constant oversight, to protect our employees and prevent accidents. We achieve this through a comprehensive program that includes weekly Toolbox safety meetings, daily monitoring of site and soil conditions, provision of personal protective equipment and enrollment of employees in a broad set of instructional classes. Sajasa provides annual safety classes, which include First Aid and CPR, trench safety, confined space entry safety, competent person training, and OSHA 10 hour training.
Monthly Safety Committee meetings aimed at “giving workers a voice” are held to provide a venue for Sajasa employees to share ideas for a safer job-site. The committee members, which are rotated annually, are all hourly field personnel, except for our Safety Officer and Senior Project Manager. Through active involvement initiatives, co-workers are encouraged to discuss problems and ideas openly. This committee has provided numerous ideas that have been incorporated into our safety plan. Although not required by any regulatory body, we continue to explore new ideas and practices aimed at decreasing small repetitive, ergonomic related, soft tissue injury problems that are prevalent in our industry.
Our safety program is the foundation of our commitment to a safe, productive work environment that provides outstanding job satisfaction and encourages personal and professional growth for all of our team members.
