ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS
This development comprised a total of 2,200 acres with 1,400 acres deeded back as open space. 800 acres were designated for 3,200 residential units and 3,500,000 SF of commercial development. Sajasa’s involvement began in 1997 at the outset of the development and continued into 2004.
Spotlight
Multiple utility crews construct 5 separate divisions in 6 months from start to finish.
Problem
The 2002 construction season goal was to complete six divisions for sale by year’s end. These sales obligations and the availability of engineering and construction approvals made it necessary to build five divisions from start to finish in six months.
In addition to all normally expected utility installations, the scope of work included the installation of 60" trunk, 35’ deep storm sewers, and a vast array of communication and third-party utilities to satisfy the projected needs of this high-tech development. In addition to ongoing work under contract from the previous season and backbone infrastructure work to service the site, Sajasa was now called upon to meet extremely demanding delivery deadlines.
Solution
Schedules and resource loading needs were developed and analyzed to ensure that objectives could be met. The demanding obligations required that as many as seven utility crews were employed by Sajasa onsite at one time.
Results
All six divisions were completed and recorded on schedule.
